My Socks are Famous!

Something kind of cool happened this week. My socks were featured in an article on Ravelry.  You have to log in to Ravely to see the article as it is, but I was able to sort of "cut & paste" the article here into my blog.  The article appeared on June 16, 2015, and, as a result, my socks are getting lots of views and I am getting a lot of nice comments about my socks.  Last I checked, the socks have been viewed at least 850 times.  Crazy, right?  Here's what the article sort of looks like.

Community Eye Candy: Poolside

Pooling – when the colors in a multicolored ball of yarn group together – can be the bane of a crafter’s existence. You may find yourself trying countless gauges or patterns to break up the colors more evenly. But sometimes, by accident or as the result of a lot of math, pooling can have amazing results. Today we’re hanging “pool”side and checking out some great recent projects that involve pooling.

Sometimes pooling can create bright, unexpected patterns! From left to right: kimfluck’s Saint Valentine Socks, And3UglyOnes’ Socks chvv7, ckkeepstricken’s It had to be Franz! & now Pfau for the neighbor, and VictorianStudio’s Rainbow “Snake” Scarf.

I loved the shared geometric pooling in all these projects! From left to right: Klar651’s RED CARPET, sternchen11’s Ein Wal in Pool, QuietDissident’s Purple makes even washing dishes better, and pixieface’s Scream Queen.

Red Sky Socks

I just finished up my Red Sky socks.

This yarn is "Diversity" from the Plymouth Yarn Company, Inc., and they call this color way "Red Sky."

When I was first making these socks, the shades of pink, red, and purple had me thinking of Valentine's Day.

But by the time I was finishing up these socks, I was thinking of the old adage that goes like this:

Red sky at night, sailor's delight.
Red sky in morning, sailor's warning.

Next think I knew, I was talking like a pirate.

Shiver me timbers!
Walk that plank!
Ahoy, Matey!
Thar she blows!
Yo Ho Ho... and a bottle of rum!
Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!

Did I tell you before my mind wanders too much when I knit socks?!

I am pretty happy with the fit of these socks.  The manner in which the yarn pooled is pretty awesome.  It also kind of reminds me of tie dye.

I cast on another pair of socks just as soon as I finished these socks.  I'll share more about the latest socks sometime very soon.

Sock Update

A little update in my world of sock knitting.  My red socks are coming along nicely.

At the knit shop, I found two new color ways in the Diversity yarn. I bought the one on the left.

My sock buddy Belinda and I are gearing up for our knit along (above). We both did gauge swatches in the stitch pattern called for. The pattern is called Aquaphobia. I am going to finish up my red socks before I cast on the new socks.

Lots of knitting going on but I am trying to balance it all with great walks near our home.

We've had an amazingly rainy spring. Waterfalls in places I've never seen waterfalls.

Happy Knitting!
